Individual Music Therapy

Individual Music Therapy sessions involve a variety of music experiences tailored to the client's unique interests, strengths, and needs. Sessions are held at our Conservatory studio, 6199 Chebucto Road, Halifax.


Adaptive Music Lessons

Adaptive Music Lessons are flexible. Lessons can include learning to play a favourite song on an instrument, rhythm work, song-writing, improvising and more - whichever works best for the client to enjoy music to the best of their ability. Adaptive Music Lessons are flexible. There is often a blend of educational and therapeutic goals, with an individualized lesson plan for each client. Music Therapists have gone through extensive training to support clients physically and cognitively, and adapt lessons in the moment to find their unique learning style.


Group Offerings

Our Centre for Music Therapy offers a variety of inclusive group sessions at the Maritime Conservatory. Our groups are unique social and musical experiences that focuses on the process and benefits of music-making rather than the product that we create. We sing to bring joy, we create music to connect, and we make friendships to last.


Community & Home Visits

Individual & group sessions are offered in the community as needed. Private homes, group homes, community organizations, schools & pre-schools, and others can receive music therapy services with our home and community visits! Please note, there is a travel fee of $6.50 for locations within 20km of the Conservatory, and $13.00 for locations within 20-35km.


Virtual Offerings

Individual music therapy and adaptive lessons facilitated virtually for anyone living in the Maritimes! Sessions involve a variety of music experiences tailored to the client's unique interests, strengths, and needs.

Rachel holds a Bachelors of Music Therapy from Acadia University (2019) and is in pursuit of a Masters of Social Work from Wilfred Laurier, set to graduate in fall of 2026.

Rachel has focused her lens to youth and young adults from diverse backgrounds over the last few years. With the main focus of her Masters in Mental Health and Addictions, Rachel takes pride in being a part of multidisciplinary care team and providing and advocating for support from varying lenses.

With a natural ability to connect with people, Rachel’s creativity allows her to think outside the box. She is friendly, open and genuine with an authenticity that helps create meaningful relationships with clients.

Alex is a Certified Music Therapist (MTA) who is passionate about using music to foster connection, growth, and well-being. She holds a Bachelor of Arts from Mount Allison University (2018) and a Bachelor of Music Therapy from Acadia University (2022).

Alex has experience working with individuals across the lifespan, including children, adults, and older adults in long-term care. She is committed to meeting clients where they are, using a person-centred and strengths-based approach to support their goals through music.

Antonia is a Certified Music Therapist with over fifteen years of experience in pediatric, adult, and geriatric care. She has a bachelor’s in music performance from Concordia University, in music education from Dalhousie University, and a Certificate in Music Therapy from Acadia University. She is trained in Neurologic Music Therapy and has completed graduate level studies from Colorado State University with an emphasis on neuroscience and evidence-based practices.

An improviser, singer, and creative collaborator, Antonia brings a sense of creative play and engagement to her sessions. Rachel Webster is an honours graduate from Wilfrid Laurier University (2016) with a Bachelor’s of Music Therapy, where her training focused heavily in improvisation on multiple instruments. She has additional training from the Academy of Neurologic Music Therapy in Toronto and is a designated Neurologic Music Therapist (NMT). Rachel has also completed her Level 1 Internship Supervisor Training.

Rachel has experience working with people of all ages, including individuals with Autism, Global Developmental Delays, Dementia & Alzheimer’s, and premature infants in the NICU. Katelyn is a certified music therapist, music instructor, and singer songwriter. She holds a Bachelor of Music Therapy from Acadia University (2018), and completed her internship with Heartsparks Music Therapy (2019). Originally from Sackville, New Brunswick, Katelyn now lives and practices her work in K’jipuktuk (Halifax), Nova Scotia. Katelyn thoughtfully plans new and fun musical activities to engage and connect with clients, and enjoys utilizing her flute in her music therapy practice. She thrives on learning songs across the decades, and sharing unique instruments. She has experience working with individuals across the lifespan, including those living with neurological disorders (Cerebral Palsy, Dementia, Multiple Sclerosis, Stroke, Traumatic Brain Injury, and Parkinson’s) mental health conditions, and neurodiversity (Autism, ADHD, Down Syndrome, and Intellectual Disabilities). She uses a person-centered philosophy, as she believes everyone has capacity to reach their full potential. Katelyn specializes in geriatrics, but is open to working with all ages!
